Permits to Burn

Contacting a Fire Warden

The Rural Fire Service website has a Fire Warden Finder page.
Enter your address in the search box.  This will zoom the map to your location and open a pop-up box with the Fire Warden's phone number.

 Before you light-up

 Don't forget to:

  • check whether there is a Fire Ban in place
  • check your permit conditions
  • notify your neighbours
  • notify a Smokespotter Coordinator (Gordon:0401 346 036; Mike:0418 732 504). This is so the Smokespotters don't spend time trying to precisely identify the location of your smoke, only to discover that it is a permitted burn
  • check the current Fire Danger Rating
  • check the forecast weather conditions (detailed forecast for Gatton here, including predicted wind direction and speed, and predicted relative humidity, current conditions in Gatton here, including wind, relative humidity and indicative fire danger rating - this rating is a useful guide to the fire danger posed by the current weather situation, but this does NOT override the published fire danger rating.
